PROPOSED CORK CITY DOCKS LOCAL AREA PLAN & PROPOSED TIVOLI DOCKS LOCAL AREA PLAN
Cork City Council is preparing statutory Local Area Plans (LAPs) for the Cork City Docks and Tivoli Docks. The Council made the commitment to prepare LAPS for these Key Development Areas in the Cork City Development Plan 2015 - 2021. The City Docks LAP will replace the South Docks Local Area Plan 2008 and the expired North Docks Local Area Plan 2005. The Tivoli Docks LAP will be a new plan.
In June 2017 the City Council undertook a pre-plan consultation exercise including stakeholder and technical workshops on how the areas should be redeveloped. Please click below on the links to the issues papers that informed the exercise and the links to the consultation reports.

CORK CITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Notice of Variation No. 4 (St. John's Well) of the Cork City Development Plan 2015 - 2021
At the Ordinary Council Meeting of 9th October 2017, the Members of Cork City Council agreed to send the proposed Variation No.4 (St. John’s Well) of the Cork City Development Plan 2015 - 2021 for public consultation.
There is an urgent need to increase housing supply in the Cork Metropolitan area. As such it is imperative that all suitable lands that may accommodate sustainable residential projects in the City be made available.
The proposed Variation seeks to insert a ‘site specific objective’ to the Cork City Development Plan, namely, “To provide social housing on the City Council owned site at the junction of St. John’s Well/ Gearney’s Boreen,” in order to facilitate development.
The proposed variation is considered to be consistent with theRebuilding Ireland Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness, in particular the objective, “to accelerate the provision and delivery of social housing and to utilise vacant homes and sites” and as such accords with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
Cork City Council invites submissions or observations in respect of the proposed variation. All written submissions received (including emails to planningpolicy@corkcity.ie) during the stated period 11th October to 7th November 2017 will be taken into consideration before the making of the Variation to the Development Plan.
Following the public consultation period, the Chief Executive will submit reports on the submissions received to Cork City Council for consideration.
